Red Lighting at any event can be very sexy and chic.  There are many events recently that are popping up with Red Accents and Lighting – New York, Hollywood and Paris to name a few.  These events are so eye catching.  I mean, just look at the picture above, Wow..!!

So I had this crazy idea on putting together a photo shoot with my LED Dance Floor, Red Up Lighting and Black & Red accent themes. I contacted a few friends of mine and I started to inquire about my crazy idea. I hit a lot of road blocks right off the start. At first, it was hard to get others to see my vision and even harder to find enough inventory on Maui. Second, I started to reach out to a few photographers I knew and they bought into the idea right away. After setting a date to do the photo shoot, we were all set to go. Then the phone calls started to come in from my photographer friends. It appears that doing a shooting with the color red requires a lot of additional equipment and the cost to a Bride & Groom would go up exponentially. My goals are always to keep the cost down, simple and elegant. So with just using a traditional set up for a photographer, the pictures taken captured a red haze around the image. see below;

I figured I would dim the LED Dance Floor and adjust the brightness of the Red Up Lighting, etc. I played around with this around the warehouse and found out that I need to have the Reds bright to maintain that vision. A complete bummer. So after some investigation – I found out that colors are broken down into 3 main colors Red, Blue and Green. Whenever there is too much of one, the other 2 get washed out and it creates a haze effect. Utilizing Photoshop or some other premier photo editor, there are balancing programs available to help fix this issue somewhat, but in my humble opinion, when there is too much editing involved, it takes away from the actual picture and at times does not seem natural.

So in conclusion – have the lighting specialist keep the Red Rays focused in an upward direction so that the photo lens can’t look directly into rays and try to incorporate other balancing colors to help make those beautiful pictures amazing and natural with minor editing. I am still intent on doing a photo shoot with Red & Black, I just need to add some different colors balance out the spectrum and iron out a few more ideas. Back to the drawing board.

Many Mahalos and wishing you an absolutely amazing event..!!
