Maui Wedding DJ First Dance Songs

I often get asked my opinion on what a great “First Dance Song” at a Maui Wedding would be. All though there are many, many options available. I created this list from a few Maui Wedding Receptions that I have been a part of over the past year. These song choices are in no particular “At Last” by Etta James “Save Room” by John Legend “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra “You Got What I Need” by Joshua Radin “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon “Lets Get Lost” by Chet Baker “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” by Barry White “Feel So Close To You Right Now” by Calvin Harris “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri “When You Got A Good Thing” by Lady Antebellum “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding “On A Night …

Grand Entrances for Wedding Receptions

Grand Entrances I was talking with a Bride the other day prior to her Big Day and a topic that came up was having fun at the introduction of their bridal party. What were some of my favorite ideas? So I decided to put my ideas down into this blog about Wedding Reception Introductions. Every Bridal Party is going to have different personalities and the introductions should fit it. There was a time where everyone was doing the “Harlem Shake by Bauer.” It looked good for some, but for others it did not look so good. If you have a laid back personality, doing something CRAZY and OUTRAGEOUS does not look comfortable. If the Bridal Parties personality is BIG, then a traditional entrance may not fit as well. Here were a couple of thoughts that I had for my …

Big No No’s for Wedding Lighting

Red Lighting at any event can be very sexy and chic.  There are many events recently that are popping up with Red Accents and Lighting – New York, Hollywood and Paris to name a few.  These events are so eye catching.  I mean, just look at the picture above, Wow..!!   So I had this crazy idea on putting together a photo shoot with my LED Dance Floor, Red Up Lighting and Black & Red accent themes. I contacted a few friends of mine and I started to inquire about my crazy idea. I hit a lot of road blocks right off the start. At first, it was hard to get others to see my vision and even harder to find enough inventory on Maui. Second, I started to reach out to a few photographers I knew and …

Wedding Uplighting Thoughts & Considerations

The right kind of Event Lighting can transform any Maui Wedding from dull to dramatic. There are many different variations to choose from. Essentially the choices really are unlimited. In this blog I cover just a few options of lighting. Let KCK Entertainment provide a touch of dramatic to your Wedding or Special Event.   Up Lighting is one of the basic elements to add to a wedding reception. Up Lights can be coordinated to match your wedding colors and bring some added light to your reception whether your venue is inside or outside. Uplights can be “sync’d” and can rotate colors throughout the night for a dramatic effect. Example, say you want to start the night with a blue color during dinner and when the dancing starts, change to green and white! These lights are called “up” lights …

Wedding Dance Song Playlists

Aloha,   I’ve been asked a few times about my recommendations on what songs are a big hit or what do you think everyone will dance to. I turn around and tell my clients not to worry about those specific songs, we’ll set up a playlist to accommodate the ages and the various top songs of your favorite genres.  When a DJ asks you for your top 10 song choices, this is a great tool for your DJ to create a playlists that accentuates those choices. Example – “Return of the Mack – Van Morrison” – “No Diggity – BackStreet” and “Titanium – David Guetta.” These initial choices would point me in the direction that these clients enjoy more of a groove able mainstream R&B/Hip Hop and Dance type genres. Where a list like “Watermelon Crawl – Tracy …

News Report on Wedding Price Markups

Aloha,   http://youtu.be/JP8u_Ufue20   This news report hit the air waves on January 19, 2013. The report is about how companies hear the word wedding and automatically raise their prices by an average of 46% with regards to DJ Services. This report obviously is edited to make to favor the research, but with that being said, here is my reasoning to different prices from doing a 40th Birthday to doing a Wedding.   In performing at a 40th Birthday Party, I usually have 2 to 3 meetings with the client and will perform a site visit prior to the event.  On average the birthday party will consist of music, disco lights and a microphone to do a birthday announcement.  The event consists of 3 hours of play time.  Total planning is about 5 to 8 hours.   In performing …
